Purposeful and meaningful transformation

Dear readers,

Much of what will be discussed in this blog will adhere to the concept of ”holism”, ”holistic science” or a "holistic approach". So what does this really mean? I will try to explain it to you below, and give some theoretical references, that you can return to at any time; when you wish, later on.

Holistic Science – Principles and Applications
Nowadays, much is being made of the meaning of the year 2012 as identified in the Mayan calendar. According to the Academy of holistic science (2011), "its significance is that it might symbolically represent the turning point from a materialist (physical) to an energetic/informational (metaphysical) worldview.
This view, representing a transformation from a meaningless to a purposeful universe, offers enormous potential for empowered and sustainable living. Now intellectual pursuit becomes informed not by ‘reductionistic’ but by ‘holistic science.

Holistic Science is supported by some of the greatest scientists. It is supported by the scientific study of ‘complexity and emergence’ (CE).  By implication ‘complexity’, as opposed to something being ‘complicated’, operates from the premise that existence is more complex than our prevailing linear scientific models suggest.
The ‘emergence’ part of existence is seen as being evolutionary, and since it is non-mechanistic, it is thus ‘creative’.
Holism is a philosophical epistemology of existence that regards this ‘creativity’ as being built into existence itself – the universe thus is purposive.
Smuts proposes that increasingly our human participation in the universe’s creative processes affords growing freedom and co-creativity
Further support for ‘holistic science’ is found in the study of systemics, cybernetics and informatics (SCI). This is the applied science of the informational, and hence non-material, world, and as such it embraces the informational/energetic structuring of existence. SCI thus also lends itself to the further development of Holistic Science.
Holistic Science thus is able to focus on defining the opportunities and structures of creative participation – and especially sustainable co-creativity.
In support of Holistic Science at the applied level of the structures of consciousness, or mind, the study of neuro-linguistics is an application of SCI that offers particular practical opportunities”.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) can be defined as a specific practical application of that employs its identification of the structures of consciousness towards empowered and sustainable living (ibid). NLP is a topic that interests me very much, and I will return to it here, as we move on. Search Amazon.com for neurolinguistic programming (NLP)
